CATALINA ISLAND vs SAONA ISLAND
Where to go?
Both offer a fun day!
It is a popular excursion and everybody who comes to DR usually does the trip. Not everybody goes to the same beaches.
Catalina is more popular around divers and snorkels.
It will take you around 30 minutes from the port, whereas to Saona can be over an hour trip from La Romana.
Saona Island is ocated to the south of the mainland, the picture-perfect beaches of this 42-square mile (110km2) island attract more visitors than all the country’s other national parks combined. Hotel construction is not permitted on the island, but tourists can take day trips to enjoy the beaches. Getting there by speedboat, catamaran or motorboat passing spectacular coastal scenery is half of the fun.
In a tour, that’s the place where you will relax, take the sun, swim in the sea, enjoy lunch (and drinks) and will pose for amazing photos!
