Parkings and port construction
in Bayahibe beach
In the area of Bayahibe beach it envisages the construction of four large parking lots and a marina to take the pressure off the major seaside resort in the eastern region, affected by the pressure of a large number of boats and tourists which has caused the deterioration of its resources.
According to the project of “Regeneration of Beaches” that the Ministry of Tourism will run in 2017, from Bayahibe many boats that transport tourists to the Saona Island take them to perform various aquatic activities.
And in the absence of an infrastructure for berthing and unloading of ships, as well as the embarkation and disembarkation of the passengers makes the ships have to reach the beach and remain stranded in it, or else anchor in the surrounding areas with the consequent Deterioration of the reefs.
In addition the high traffic that generates the tourist activity, has caused that the land of the dry beach is very compacted in a wide zone.
- The parking areas for buses will be in an area of 4,000 square meters. The pavements of these parking spaces will be ecological or “green”, respectful of the natural environment of the beach as they are permeable.
- A breakwater dam of about 260 meters will be built for the marina with seven lines for berthing sports boats.
- Another problem in the area is the lack of services and facilities on the beach, which will include litter bins, three surveillance towers, wooden walkway and showers.
