People write to us from alll over the world asking; “what is the status of COVID in the Dominican Republic?”
We decided to write this blog post to keep you updated, and if you are considering traveling to the Dominican Republic, you can make an informed decision.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS TO DOMINICAN REPUBLIC:
Most travelers (for example, from United States, Canada, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Panama, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Puerto Rico, etc.) do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival to enter the Dominican Republic. Airports and other ports of entry will perform a quick, aleatory breath test to a percentage of passengers, and all those who present symptoms, upon arrival. It is not required to present the vaccination card upon arrival in the Dominican Republic, to enter the resorts, establishments and tourist transportation regulated by the Ministry of Tourism. However, it is required to present the vaccination card with 2 doses of the vaccine applied or PCR test performed at least 7 days before to enter establishments outside the hotels and tourism complexes. Therefore, visitors over 12 years of age must carry their vaccination card with them to leave the tourism complexes or resorts. To take an excursion, it is not required to present card, or test. You can see the official site and keep informed by following the link here
HOTELS:
As of 10/27/2021, all of the hotels in the Dominican Republic are back in business, and they are allowed up to 100% occupancy rate. Measures like social distancing and mask wearing are still required, but of course you can take your mask off on the beach and pool! Most of this measures are aimed at keeping hotel employees safe!, so please cooperate with the resort and wear a mask, especially when coming to the front desk, bar or approaching people.
TOURS
Our company still has measures like operating at 50% capacity, we require people to wear a mask if you are going to take our transportation. Again, the goal of this is to ensure that our staff and other clients are safe. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
GOING OUT.
Curfew is gone, and business is back to usual. Restaurants, bars and dancing places are back to business.
WHERE WILL A VACCINATION CARD BE REQUIRED?
If you plan to do grocery shopping, or going to the bank or any other public institution (government or private) you will be asked upon antry to show your vaccination card. Just keep a photo of it in your phone, and show it along with your ID when required. It’s not that difficult! Tourists will mostly be waved off, but keep your vaccination card, wheter is physical or virtual, on hand, just in case.
GOING BACK.
It is advised that you check your own homecountry requirements, to be sure what will you be asked for when re-entering. If you are required to have a test, they are widely available and even at big resorts, you will be able to get one done right at the hotel. Small resort areas, like Dominicus, have places like the local pharmacy just right outside the gate at Viva Dominicus Beach, where you can have your test made for only $40, results in a couple of hours.
So don’t let the red tape keep you at home! It is safe to come, and with just a little caution and common sense, you will have the time of your life and get reset with the cool breeze, blue waters and white sands of our beaches. We look forward to see you!
